Chapter President: Rich Veenstra, PhD
Dr. Veenstra arrived at Upstate Medical University in 1986. He is a Professor in the Pharmacology Department. He studied at the University of Iowa and has many research programs and associations. His laboratory performed nationally funded biomedical research for 30 years, specializing in cardiac gap junctions.
He became a UUP Delegate in the 1990s, served as the Chapter Vice President for Academics from 2013-2019 and became the UUP Upstate Medical Chapter President in June 2019. He also served on the UUP Statewide Executive Board from June 2017 – May 2023.
